The Final Page

I would just like to say that there is one member of the building team whose work has been outstanding, and without whom the others could not do their jobs.  I am speaking about someone who I feel deserves a crown of honour.  In fact...we all know that Prince William is second in line to the throne...but in my opinion there is another William who deserves to get their first!

Moving forward:
The final part of this build involves getting the job 'signed off' by the building inspector.  This is crucial as it is required on any future sale of the property.  So...do we have the build 'signed off' now?

Do we heck!

The front window ventilation is deemed insufficient for the size of the room (this matter has been raised by the building inspector who hadn't mentioned it previously).  It was an oversight on our part...as we simply didn't know that a formal requirement existed.  The window is to be changed (at additional cost to the original build).

There are two opening windows in the shower room.  This is deemed to be insufficient ventilation for that room so an extractor fan must be fitted (at additional cost to the original build).  The builders had in fact asked whether I wanted one fitted and I told them I didn't...without realising that it is a formal requirement to have one.

Our decision to apply for permission to channel waste water from the sink and shower into the sewer drain has been refused and we are now faced with the requirement to build a soak-away.  This must be positioned at a specific depth and at a specific distance from our house.  The driveway will need to be dug up (at additional cost to the original build).

All is not doom and gloom however!  Internally we now have a lovely new shower room, and of course the séance room that we have been long awaiting is complete and fully functional.
